Description

Padre Dam Municipal Water District's Operations Department is seeking a seasonal part-time Staff Support employee to work at our recycled water fill stations. This is an ideal position for an applicant looking for part-time work who has an interest in the water/wastewater industry. This seasonal Staff Support position is in support of our customer facing recycled water fill stations.  
Employees in this position are not doing the full range of duties of a regular full-time classification; they are performing one or two specific tasks that do not warrant full-time employment.

Essential Duties

Duties may include: educating customers on the allowable uses of recycled water, operating the physical recycle fill stations, assisting customers in the facilitation of filling recycled water containers, maintaining regulatory compliance and completing usage logs.

Knowledge, Skills, Training, Experience & Licensing

Required at time of Hire:

  • Valid California driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED

Supplemental Information

This position is approximately 11 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Tuesdays from 11:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. and Saturdays from 7:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. There is the possibility of decreased hours in weeks where there is a lot of natural rainfall or customer need/interest slows down. At the time of hire, the applicant selected must commit to the set work schedule. The work environment for this position is outdoors and may require long periods of standing or sitting.  This is a non-exempt part-time position.
 

Sick Leave:
Staff Support & seasonal employees accrue sick time at the rate of 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 48 hours.

Retirement:
If an employee at the time of hire is determined to have been a prior member of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS); benefits may apply. Otherwise, employees must work 999 hours in a fiscal year to be eligible for CalPERS benefits. The Benefit for new CalPERS members is 2% @ age 62. Benefit formula for classic CalPERS members is 2.5@ age 55.

Social Security/Medicare:
Employees are covered under provisions of Federal Social Security and Medicare.
 
Salary Adjustments (2017-2021):
Padre Dam provides an annual Cost of Living Adjustment based on the San Diego CPI-W (February report) with a minimum of 1.5% and a maximum of 3.5%  on the first pay period of each fiscal year
