Job Description

Purpose of the Position:
What does the job do?
This position oversees the Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) program, the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SONRA) program, accidents, and background check Unit. This position will provide direct support for the areas within the Special Program Unit.

How does the job get done?
This position will manage financial and other records, and handle customer complaints. This position will answer questions on department services and functions, and prepare and verify statistical reports for accuracy. This position will exercise the direct supervision of nine (9) positions.

Who is this job done for?
This job is completed for law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Mexico, the public, District Attorneys, lawyers, victims, the Attorney General's office and the Governor's Office.

The Ideal Candidate has experience in:

  • administration and management of systems in a large enterprise
  • documenting and maintaining complex government records in a criminal justice records management environment
  • Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests
  • performing lead supervisory responsibilities

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

This position is a Pay Band 65.

Classification Description

Business Operations Specialist Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of budgeting, accounting, auditing, purchasing, cash management and/or financial management.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a Law Enforcement and Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. This position may require mandatory overtime hours, and will require shift work for a 24/7 operation. Subject to national fingerprint-based record check within 30 days of assignment. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony-free, per section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy. Occasional travel may be required.
