General Description

The Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department is seeking applications for Softball Site Supervisors.  The Site Supervisor is responsible for supervising and maintaining proper decorum and control of spectators and players, organizing teams for play, interpreting and enforcing departmental and program rules, and setting up/taking down and storage of equipment.  The summer season runs from May through August.  The fall season runs from August through October.  The pay range is $11.22 to $12.30 per hour.

Examples of Duties

  • Report to field one hour prior to game time.
  • Prepare field for play, including lining field (foul line), putting bases out, general maintenance of field (raking and draining of water following a rain).
  • Set up, take down, storage, and proper use of equipment.
  • Instruct, supervise, and assist umpires and other softball personnel.
  • Maintain safe conditions and patron, spectator, and player safety through enforcing rules and regulations and proper supervision techniques.
  • Organize teams for play and receive line-ups in scorebook.
  • Keep official scorebook and clock for game.
  • Interpret and enforce department rules and policies.
  • Gather all pertinent information regarding protests and inform department of incidents and game situations and happenings.
  • Help organize, promote, and publicize the adult softball program.
  • Be prepared to officiate game.
  • Allowed one-half hour following final game to properly complete press releases and incident report forms.
  • Allowed one-half hour additional time to deliver score sheets to drop box and newspapers.
  • Cancel and notify participants of cancellations, i.e., bad weather, rainouts, etc.
  • Secure facility prior to leaving.
  • Other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Knowledge of the game of softball.
  • Knowledge of our softball program.
  • Experience dealing with people.
  • Experience supervising staff and working as a team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties characterized as medium work, which is lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Be able to stand, walk, and drive for less than one hour at a time and sit for 4-5 hours at a time.
  • Be able to repetitively grasp, push, and pull.
  • Be able to occasionally bend, twist, squat, and reach.
  • Be able to frequently talk, hear, and see.
  • Be able to be exposed to rain, cold, heat, sun, and wind 50% of the time.
