Description/Duties & Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and Coordinator, this position will work directly with Registration and Facilities at The Centre. This position will work up to 20 hours per week, and must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize, plan, and work directly with the Recreation Supervisor and Coordinators.

• Assist in organization, set-up, and clean-up of facility.

• Organize, prioritize and follow up on assignments.

• Greet customers and answer inquiries regarding facilities and programs.

• Interact with participants and visitors in person and via phone.

• Maintain various forms, logs, and reports.

• Process registrations.

• Maintain facility equipment.

• Work with staff to effectively provide quality recreation programs.

• Attend meetings and training sessions.

• Report incidents and accidents and complete reports.

• Follow and enforce City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others.

• Track, inventory, and organize supplies.

• Organize, plan, and work with other program areas, as requested.

• Effectively address issues and concerns with patrons as they arise.

• Perform first aid and respond to emergencies.

• Communicate with other City divisions/departments.

• Knowledge of assigned program area.

• Money-handling, including close out procedures.

• Ensure safety of site and be aware of emergency procedures.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Open or close facility.

• Maintain clean facility.

• Use of registration software. Register patrons for programs/classes and manage wait lists. Process refunds and transfers. Process reservations.

• Answer multi-line phone and transfer calls.

• Proofread materials for use on website, brochure, flyers, etc.

• Act as a role model.

• Ability to drive a vehicle.

• Travel to various park facilities.

• Other activities and duties as directed by Supervisor and Coordinators.

Education and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Education/Experience: High school diploma, GED or equivalent; One (1) to two (2) years prior paid work experience a plus. Valid Class C Driver's License and a safe driving record.

• Language Ability: Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both orally and in writing.

• Professional Skills: Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others; creative problem solver, quick learner, and team player.

• Physical Ability: Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment, banquet tables and chairs, podiums, stage, and dance floor weighing 40 pounds or more with help.

Knowledge and Abilities

• Possess supervisory and leadership skills.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service to staff, volunteers, and public.

• Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, keep records, and perform other general office duties relevant to program.

• Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks in an effective and timely manner, for self and others.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizations connected to the

performance of required duties.

• Experience with computer programs (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Rec1).

• Organized, able to multi-task, and manage time effectively.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends.
