Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is accepting applications for a  Sterile Processing Manager who through subordinate supervisors, manages the medical center's sterile processing department, staff and store operation, including the inventorying, ordering, receiving, storing and issuing sterilized supplies and equipment. Duties also include developing standards and ensuring the clean, safe, efficient and effective instrument and equipment distribution and availability and compliance with safety and regulatory standards; developing policies and procedures, and making recommendations for improvements. In addition, the position prepares the department budget, performs human resources functions, develops and implements process improvement initiatives, coordinates the preparation of bids and requests for proposals, orders equipment; and provides staff training and education.
 
FUTURE SALARY INCREASE
3.0% Effective July 21, 2018


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass a background investigation which includes fingerprinting and verification of employment history. 

Physical:  Physical agility requirements include good vision and color discrimination; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and/or reaching above and below shoulder level; using either foot to operate foot controls; ability to move up to 50 lbs. manually or with assistance.

Environment:  Work environment involves exposure to electricity, chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.
ARROWHEAD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
 
ARMC is a 456 bed university affiliated acute care teaching facility featuring the newest in technology in the field of patient care.  The Emergency Department, a Level II Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons handling more than 90,000 annual visits. The Sterile Processing Department supports the hospital and patient care through management of instrument sterilization, and gathering and distributing equipment throughout the hospital.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Twenty-four (24) hour responsibility, on-call and call-back is required. Travel throughout the County may be required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California driver license and proof of liability insurance must be provided for the individual providing the transportation.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a sterile processing technician decontaminating, inspecting, testing, sorting, assembling, packaging and distributing a variety of reusable medical and surgical equipment, instrumentation and supplies in an acute care hospital.  Experience must include one (1) year as a full-scope supervisor over sterile processing staff. Experience may be concurrent.

Certification from one of the following:
  • International Association of Health Care Services Material Management (IAHCSMM)
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced hospital sterile processing manager with a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, possesses a sterile processing certification, budget preparation and reconciliation experience and a working knowledge of regulatory survey process and preparation in a large teaching acute care hospital.
