Job Summary

THIS POSITION IS DEEMED AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR POSITION.  THIS IS NOT AN OFFER FOR EMPLOYMENT AND NO COUNTY OR STATE BENEFITS WILL ACCRUE OR ARE AVAILABLE.  THIS POSITION SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A CONTRACT FOR SERVICES AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VENDOR SHALL BE EVALUATED.

JOB SUMMARY:
Acts as a liaison between the judge and jurors during a jury trial. Is under general direction of Court Administration staff.  Jury Attendants are responsible for facilitating efficient courtroom proceedings.

Examples of Duties

  • Maintains order in courtroom during trial and guards jury from outside contact
  • Secures, sequesters and escorts jurors to the courtroom
  • Acts as a liaison between judge and juries
  • Prepares the courtroom for jury trials and court proceedings
  • Takes attendance for jurors reporting for duty and keeps jurors together during breaks
  • Prepares jury for deliberation
  • Orders meals for deliberating jurors
  • Receives and secures court exhibits
  • Provides jury escort to restaurant and other areas outside of courtroom to prevent jury contact with public
  • Guards lodging of sequestered jury
  • Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or foreign education equivalent to a US Accredited High School Diploma and one (1) year of related experience in courts, legal office or working directly with the public. Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position.

Supplemental Information

HOURS:
As Needed, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm. Possibility of evening hours.
