Position Summary

The Outreach and Recruitment Office/Student Services Department has openings for Big Bend Student Ambassadors. Ambassadors are student leaders who provide campus information and campus tours, staff the Student Outreach and Recruitment Office, and provide general mentoring and peer guidance to prospective students.

This position is not eligible for State or Federal Work-Study.

Students must be available to work up to 16 hours per week, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The total of hours will vary per quarter.

 

Essential Job Duties

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop relationships with prospective students via phone, mail, email, text, social media, and in person. These contacts are to gather student information, answer questions, assist them to enroll at BBCC and help them get to know what BBCC has to offer them.
  • Host students on campus thorough campus tours, visit departments and introduce them to the services, resources and facilities they will have access to as a student at BBCC.
  • Help staff the Student Outreach and Recruitment Office for 5 hours each week, assisting with reception, phones, mailings, and meeting with students and parents.
  • Participate in activities to help perspective students learn about and enroll at BBCC. Activities may include high school and campus open houses and events, Viking Welcome, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications

Interested students must be enrolled at BBCC for more than 5 credits and be prepared for leadership involvement; be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with strong interpersonal skills; be energetic; have a strong work ethic and be a team player with a desire to represent Big Bend Community College.
