Position Information

Collects, records and compiles routine field hydrologic data; assists in making routine measurements and in maintaining hydrologic equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Position requires field work that regularly involves hiking and climbing in rough terrain, carrying equipment over unimproved roads and hiking paths, and working with basic hand tools in a workshop.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics.  Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of engineering surveying, drafting, or field hydrologic observation or general laboratory work.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of standard terminology, techniques, practices and equipment used in measuring and collecting hydrologic data; and the ability to read water gauges and instruments; make simple mathematic computations; understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Valid driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.

Experience in field environmental data collection strongly preferred.
