We are seeking an individual, who has demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our team this summer as an Assistant Pool Manager. This is a seasonal position, scheduled to begin in May 2018.

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for the safety, instruction, and training of children participating in the City of Cedar Hill Junior Longhorns Swim Team.  Additionally, the Head Swim Team Coach is responsible for supervising the children and serving as the liaison between the Recreation Coordinator and the parents.  They will conduct daily practices based on a training regimen, and create daily workouts for each age group that enable the swimmers to develop their endurance, form and technique.  Assist in preparation, set-up, and take down for swim meets.  They will prepare the swim meet line-ups and entry requirements.  Instructing children in swimming skills necessary for swim team participation and improvement.  They shall also teach regular swim lessons for non-swim team students, and lifeguard as needed. Must be available for the entire 2018 summer season and attend all swim meets.  This position will maintain a commitment to the operation of a safe and effective aquatic environment, and assures all facilities are left in the same or better condition after swim meets and practices. They will also maintain a positive atmosphere with regards to sportsmanship, goal setting, and a positive learning environment for all.  This position performs other duties as assigned.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by educating customers, resolving customer concerns, meeting customer needs, responding to requests and helping to maintain a safe and clean pool environment in a professional manner.
  • Instructs workout plans, prepares and evaluates correct swimming techniques. Instructs, plans, prepares and evaluates water safety instruction programs
  • Assists in maintaining related records and statistics for programs and participants.
  • Assist with coordinating, schedule, and maintaining related records and statistics for swim team program and participants.
  • Ensures the safety of the general public by enforcing pool rules and regulations; monitoring activities and providing assistance when necessary.  Provides accident prevention.
  • Provides general facility maintenance and cleanliness duties including: water balance, filling pools, cleaning bathhouse restrooms,  cleaning the pool, pool decks, pool equipment, grass areas, and office areas.
  • Performs emergency service by rescuing, resuscitating or administering first aid as required.  Reports all incidents to Recreation Coordinator.
  • Attends in-service training each week on safety and emergency procedures
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.    
  • Requires regular attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Less than high school education acceptable. 
  • At least 3 years competitive swimming experience and previous coaching experience necessary. 
  • Must be at least 17 years old. 
  • A current American Red Cross certification in First aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Water Safety Instructor and Deep Water Lifeguarding or equivalent is required. 
  • Safety Training for Swim Coaches is preferred.  Concussion Training must be obtained before the first swim practice.
