Job Description...

The Nurse Executive is responsible for Nursing Services Delivery.  The Nurse Executive participates in the Hospital Leadership, budgetary processes, planning, organization, coordination, directing and evaluating Nursing Services Delivery in the Inpatient Adult Psychiatric Hospital setting. Additional Functions:  Formulate and implement policies and procedures; ensure compliance with laws, rules, regulations, standards of federal, state and department agencies, code of ethics and various accrediting bodies; Support through positive behavior, attitude and integrity the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Caro Center and the Michigan Department of Community Health; Supervise the Staff Education and Competency of Nursing Personnel; Supervise the Performance Improvement Processes-Improve Processes and Outcomes of Patient Care; Ensure Efficient, Safe and Effective Nursing Service Delivery- including Twenty Four Hour Patient Care Assignment and Patient Supervision, Medication Administration Processes, Active Nursing Assessment/ Reassessment, Effective Communications for Continuity of Care- including Discharge Planning, Competent and Adequate Qualified Staffing Nursing Personnel, Effective Staffing Patterns to provide Nursing Care; Infection Control Operations that promote surveillance, management and education of staff; work effectively with Interdisciplinary Team to promote effective Care and protection of Patient Rights; Act to direct the ancillary and contractual staff providing related services.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Experience
Three years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 14 or Registered Nurse Manager 14, or two years equivalent to a Registered Nurse Manager 15 or Registered Nurse Director 15.

Alternate Education and Experience

Possession of a master's degree in nursing and two years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 14 or Registered Nurse Manager 14; or, possession of a master's degree in nursing and one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse Manager 15 or Registered Nurse Director 15 may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Additional Requirements and Information

Possession of Michigan licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Positions in the Department of Community Health may require possession of a master's degree.

Leave Time

Full time employees receive between 15 and 35 vacation leave days per year. Employees also receive 13 sick days per year, and employees receive 8 hours of leave to participate in certain school functions or community activities. Employees may also qualify for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for certain family or medical situations.

State employees receive 12 scheduled holidays each year, which include New Years Eve Day and New Years Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day just to name a few.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount you want deducted from your paycheck.


Retirement

Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match that percentage (up to 3%).
