Purpose of Position:
This position will manage and oversee the Tax Research unit which produces economic analysis, research and statistics on existing and proposed tax legislation and revenue forecasts to support budget decision making. The position will serve as a key member on the department leadership team for the development of tax policy proposals for the Administration and will monitor the State and National economies to identify trends and conditions that may affect the level of volatility of State revenue sources.
 
This position is a Pay Band 90.

General Manager I Economics

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Sociology, Industrial Relations, Public Administration or Business Administration and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Employment Requirements: 
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions: 
Office setting, extensive use of computer, sitting of long periods of time. Stress to meet deadlines and balance competing priorities. Must be able to lift. May work irregular, extending, weekend or call-back hours. Some in-state travel required.
