Description

The City of Norfolk's Department of General Services, Parking Division is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II who will perform maintenance on city buildings and grounds, including interior building maintenance and preventative maintenance of equipment. Manages the operating activities in a warehouse. Provides support for special events and exhibits.

Essential Functions

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Performs inspections and maintenance to City facilities and grounds, including but not limited to: HVAC repair, minor electrical, pump/fire systems, light replacement, concrete/asphalt repair, painting, snow removal, mechanical repair, sign installation and removal, power washing and general cleaning.
  • Assisting other personnel and departments to ensure safety.
  • Scheduling and supervising vendors as needed.
  • Entering, monitoring and retrieving work orders from a work order database (Facility Dude).
  • Maintain maintenance records.
  • Inspects and evaluates facility support systems.
  • Serves as crew leader when needed - assigns tasks and assists other staff as needed.

Education/Experience

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational and technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

Two years' experience as maintenance mechanic.

Certification in a vocational trade is preferred.  

Additional Information & Requirements

Valid Driver's License.  Class A or B Commercial Driver's License preferred.

 
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
