This is skilled work in leading crews that are responsible for repairing, inspecting, constructing, and maintaining gravity mains and manholes and/or lawn maintenance of all lift stations; raw water wells and/or the water and sewer network and/or internment and grounds maintenance work done in the cemetery and/or storm sewers; catch basins; sidewalk repairs and replacements; and asphalt and concrete applications. This work involves monitoring and providing detailed reporting of all work performed. Work is performed under general supervision

Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  
  • Lead and instruct staff in installation, repair and preventative maintenance in various activities as described under General Purpose and Description (above).
  •  Prepare routine reports, written work orders and maintain records.
  •  Accurately relate daily assignment of work and review/discussion of completed jobs to crew(s).
  • Coordinate work with other crews to maintain deadlines and safety practices.
  • Assist in training and ensure quality workmanship of the crew(s).
  • May perform heavy manual functions, if required.
  • May set up and operate laser and sight alignment and leveling tools, if required.
  • May operate a backhoe, end load, box-blade truck or large dump truck, if required.
  • Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years of professional, verifiable experience in a department/division specific specialized area listed in the General Purpose and Description or one (1) year experience as a Crew Leader I or a Street Maintenance Worker III. Must possess or obtain a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B, CDL, with airbrakes and tanker endorsements within six (6) months of hire, excluding Utility Maintenance and cemetery.

Water/Sewer Network Divisions Only: Must possess or obtain a Water Distribution Operator III License issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection within six (6) months from the date of hire. No Exceptions.
