General Description

The City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Office is accepting applications for the Health & Wellness Parks Rx Coordinator.  The Health & Wellness Parks Rx Coordinator is responsible for directing all Parks Rx programming and objectives under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor. The individual will assume complete responsibility for the program in the absence of the Recreation Supervisor.  The Parks Rx program runs yearly from January 1 through December 31.  Hours are Monday through Friday; however, some weekend hours will be required.  The pay range is $12.08 to $13.55 per hour.

Examples of Duties

  • Coordinate the program under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Coordinate GB Parks Rx initiatives throughout the department including, but not limited to, the Wildlife Sanctuary and Bay Beach Amusement Park.
  • Report to work site at scheduled time.
  • Enforce all department and City policies and procedures.
  • Enforce all department and City safety guidelines.
  • Be able to work flexible hours daily, approximately 10 hours/week.
  • Individual must have own transportation to travel to programs but will be reimbursed for use of vehicle.
  • Enforce staff dress codes.
  • Respond to public concerns and complaints in a mature, timely, and friendly manner consistent with department policies.
  • Prepare lists of necessary repairs of equipment and facilities to park crews.
  • Secure and organize all forms and equipment.
  • Conduct follow-up communication with target population to help increase participation.
  • Carry out effective methods of communication and marketing, including promotional pieces and social media.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of program evaluations and participant tracking.
  • Manage program budget to ensure funds are utilized effectively and make budget recommendations.

 
Parks Rx:

  • Visit Parks Rx program sites as frequently as schedule permits.
  • Coordinate scheduling of all Parks Rx events and programming.
  • Attend monthly Parks Rx Advisory Group meeting, including scheduling, facilitation, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with Prevea Health Coach to gather and analyze data to measure success on wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Prevea Marketing Department to conceptualize and implement marketing strategies to increase program awareness and participation.
  • Collaborate with Prevea Marketing, City of Green Bay Parks, Recreation, & Forestry, and LIVE54218 to update website and social media.
  • Assist with grant reports and submit to Advisory Group for review (e.g. ABA follow-up reports due December 2017 and June 2018).
  • Engage in long-term planning and grant-seeking to support the sustainability of Parks Rx.
  • Communicate wellness ideas with Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department staff.
  • Provide resources for topics and focus areas every two weeks.
  • Solicit, organize, and implement special guests and activities.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing Parks Rx Day.
  • Encourage activity tracking through logs and monitor participation minutes.

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Minimum one to three (1-3) years of supervisory experience or education.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, social networking, and collaborative tools such as Facebook, online meeting schedulers, and GoogleDrive.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in health and wellness programming.
  • Must be passionate about individual, family, and community wellness (public health).
  • Willingness to handle discipline and concerns in adverse conditions.
  • Accept and apply constructive feedback when given.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as professionalism when dealing with employees and vendors.
  • Ability to recruit community partners and program participants; establish and maintain effective working relationships with system partners.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment in order to effectively meet program and team needs.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to develop creative concepts and innovative techniques to engage community members and reach them with appropriate health information.
  • Excellent public speaker, with ability to tailor the message to intended audience.
  • Must have a personable and energetic disposition.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 20 pounds; transport materials to events.
  • Ability to transport oneself to/from various locations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including personal computer, photocopier, fax machine, and telephone.
