Description

This position oversee's the activities and data collection necessary for all major compliance reports required by GA EPD and the MNGWPD.  The incumbent will also assist in updating and implementing a Storm water Capital Improvement Plan for Henry County.

Examples of Duties

Oversees and prepares of all major reports submitted to GA EPD and the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District (MNGWPD) for compliance with local, state and federal regulations; coordinates NPDES requirements with municipalities to Inter Governmental Agreements; provides education and training to municipalities and public based on MNGWPD requirements; assist the Storm water Director with development and implementation of a Capital Improvement Plan specific to Henry County; assists with Basin analysis, testing and hydraulic modeling to identify distressed watersheds; collects and analyzes water and/or soil samples to develop course of action for removal of pollutant sources; design and recommend Stormwater projects to improve identified distressed watershed health; performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university. Advanced post graduate education level coursework in water quality assessment is preferred.

Eight years of experience in Storm water management or a similar field.
 
Registered Professional Engineer is preferred; certified Engineer in training will be considered.
 
Possess a valid Georgia drivers' license
 
Level II certification with the GA Soil and Water Conservation Commission is required.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities/ Supplemental Information

Thorough knowledge of the techniques, and principles and procedures related to storm water management and design; skill in preparing, producing and interpreting construction drawings and storm water impact statements; skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department employees, developers, contractors, utility representatives and others; skill in analyzing problems, conditions and situations and recommending solutions in compliance with established policies; skill in oral and written communications; skill in working with the general public; skill in drainage project construction oversight.

Annual Leave

Annual Leave (vacation) is earned as follows:

  • 0 months – 5 years: 10 days per year
  • 6 years – 15 years: 15 days per year
  • 16 years – 20 years: 20 days per year
  • 21 years and over: 23 days per year

Sick Leave is earned at the rate of one day per month for a total of 12 days per year.

Employees receive nine paid holidays per year.

Insurance benefits are offered to employees working over 32 hours per week.

New employees are eligible for insurance coverage on the first day of the month following one full month of employment.
