Description

Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager and Senior Staff, the position primarily assists the backstage department.   Employees in this classification perform management/supervisory functions as well as manual labor.  Performs related work as directed.

Examples of Duties

  • Provides professional assistance and support to Technical Director and other full-time staff.
  • Performs management duties as assigned by Technical Director at theater events.
  • Assists Technical Director in the sound, lighting, carpentry, rigging, props, wardrobe departments;  provides technical support and advice to event personnel and promoters at theater.
  • Greets all guests who come to theater with professionalism; provides exemplary level customer service to all.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment at all times as it relates to theater equipment and usage.
  • Assists Technical Director with advancing all show event riders and equipment needs for events.
  • Performs repairs and adjustments on equipment when needed.
  • Assists Technical Director in preparing backstage security plans for all events and emergency plans in cooperation with Senior Staff.
  • Assists Technical Director with ordering supplies, managing audio, and lighting inventory.
  • Works with and assists Technical Director on stage set ups, cleaning and teardown of all equipment for events in theater, lobby, and meeting rooms.
  • Helps load and unload equipment on trucks and other vehicles at events.

Minimum Training and Experience

High school diploma or GED (college credits preferred); supplemented by three (3) to five (5) years of theater, arena, or performing arts experience working as a stagehand in Audio, Lighting, Rigging, Carpentry, Props, and Wardrobe departments; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
 
Special Requirements
  • Valid State of Florida Drivers License
  • Strong customer service skills
