Purpose of Position
This position, under direction of nursing staff will provide for the personal needs of residents in a long term care facility and will assist with duties that include but are not limited to, feeding, bathing, and dressing, moving patients and changing linens. Incumbent will work as part of a team providing restorative care for residents and promoting the highest quality of life.

Nursing Aide, Orderly & Attendant Basic

Minimum Qualifications

Eighth grade education.

Employment Requirements:
This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). Must possess and maintain a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must receive Certified Nursing Assistant Certification within four (4) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Statutory Requirements:
Subject to nationwide background search pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act, (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC).

Working Conditions:
Job duties are considered heavy duty. Work is physically and emotionally demanding. Position will perform work in a long-term care facility for Veterans with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and personal computer and phone usage. The ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and the use of various types of medical equipment is required. Incumbent may be exposed to potentially aggressive residents, and potential health and chemical hazards that may include but are not limited to, resident illness, chemical sensitivity and exposure to bodily fluids and blood. This position will be required to work weekends, holidays, and callback and overtime hours. Essential functions of the job and physical ability requirements will be available at the time of interview or may be obtained at the New Mexico Veterans' Home Human Resources Office.
