Purpose of the Position

Open until filled.  First screening of applications begins Monday, July, 24, 2017.
Conducts psychological testing, prepares evaluative reports, makes treatment recommendations, provides court testimony for youth involved in the Pima County Juvenile Court Center.

 

Essential Functions

  • Provides psychological testing, interprets test results, and generates written reports for youth referred for assessment, reports which formulate clinical recommendations to relative types of problems.
  • Provides substance abuse evaluations at the request of judges, probation officers or court attorneys.
  • Consults with court staff including judges, probation officers, court attorneys and other court personnel regarding mental and behavioral health and treatment issues and delinquency.
  • Attends staff meetings/conferences relating to treatment services.
  • Assists court staff including supervisors and probation officers and other court staff in consulting with community agencies to obtain history and progress of youth, including schools, mental health agencies, social services, and out-of-home placements for ongoing evidence-based and best practice casework.
    Provides expert testimony in court hearings regarding evidence-based, best practice mental and behavioral health and treatment issues based on formal psychological evaluation.
  • Provides in-service training regarding mental and behavioral health practices and treatment to court staff and other community stakeholders such as behavioral health, social services, and child protective services (CPS).
  • Supervises student interns/residents from colleges and universities regarding the psychological evaluation of court-involved youth.
  • Performs psychological evaluations on candidates for probation and safety sensitive court positions after employment offers and prior to their start date.    
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A Doctoral degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Clinical Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D. Ed.D.) from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience, which should include a minimum of one year of experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in assessment, forensic, and/or correctional setting.

 

Licenses, Certificates & Physical Conditions

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: 
Licensed professional in psychology in accordance with Title 32-Arizona Revised Statutes to practice in the State of Arizona.  Maintaining the aforementioned license to practice psychology is a condition of employment.  Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of appointment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: 
Typically performs duties in an office environment and may lift materials and/or equipment 20 lbs or less.
