Job Description

Responsible for providing excellent customer service, completing registrations, extensive cash handling, booking court usage, supervising court usage and assisting with adult athletic programs, other recreation centers and other divisions within the department.

Goldfield Tennis Center shifts will vary and could be anytime between 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This position may work up to 25 hours per week and regularly work nights and Saturdays.

Essential Functions

  • Answers telephone
  • Greets customers at front desk with excellent customer service
  • Registers participants for department's programs in the CLASS registration system
  • Books court rentals in the CLASS facility booking system
  • Collects and verifies waivers for all participants at the tennis center
  • Performs cash handling duties and completes deposits
  • Enforces center's rules
  • Helps to insure overall appearance of facility is in proper order
  • Sets up tennis ball machine when rented
  • Cleans center as needed
  • Records hourly attendance in daily log book
  • Completes administrative duties as assigned
  • Assists in the administration of classes, leagues and tournament play
  • May be required to sell concessions during adult softball games, tournaments and tennis tournaments.
  • Counts concession and pro shop inventory
  • Assists other recreation centers, athletics, and youth/teen services with desk coverage, programs and special events.
Additional Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance

Conditions of Employment

  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License prior to employment with reliable transportation to travel from various facilities
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check
  • Must complete CPR/First Aid within 30 days of employment
  • Must complete Defensive Driving within 30 days of employment
  • Must obtain food handling permit within 30 days of employment (if working concessions)
  • May be necessary to use personal transportation to run business errands
  • Required to work various afternoon, evening and weekend shifts

Employee Assistance Program 
The City of Denton Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to assist employees with identifying on or off-the-job personal or behavioral problems adversely affecting their work performance, work productivity, or ability to identify and locate appropriate medical, emotional, physical, financial, legal, or other appropriate resources. The program allows each employee to receive five face-to-face counseling sessions for each calendar year and unlimited access to a toll-free number at no cost to the employee. The EAP program is open to all City of Denton employees, their spouse and dependents, and retirees.

Workers Compensation
Eligibility: Immediately
Details: City provides supplemental pay to augment worker’s compensation payments for regular full-time employees. Length of supplemental pay is tied to service time within the City.
