Description

Event coordinator is needed to work varying hours including early morning, mid-day and some evenings at the new 13,000 sq. /ft. College Park Airport Operations Building.  This will include overseeing a wide range of events i.e. wedding ceremonies, receptions, corporate events, meetings, birthday parties, conferences trainings and other related functions.
 

Position will entail working up to 30 hours per week.
 
General duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Fields calls and emails from potential customers; conducting tours with potential customers and walk-throughs with booked customers.
  • Implements and manages facility booking and payment process.
  • Provide exceptional communication and service with the public, customers, staff, and management.
  • Opens and closes the facilities.
  • Oversees housekeeping of the facility.
  • Set-up/break down tables and chairs for scheduled events.
  • Monitors scheduled events.
  • Enforcing rules and regulations.
  • Act as a spokesperson/decision maker for all events.
  • Supervises one or more facility aides or airport staff during scheduled events.
  • Completes Function Reports for scheduled events.
  • Handles general routine maintenance of the grounds, to include parking lot.
  • Coordinates with airport and museum staff for combined event rental events and to ensure educational programming coordination.
  • Coordinates with airport staff to ensure coverage and clear communication regarding all hangar usage for events, pilots, and educational programs.
  • Handles any complaints or issues that transpire during events.
  • Ensure events close timely and building is secured.
  • Assist with marketing of the facility and providing input for needed improvements.
 
The College Park Airport Operations Building is available to rent seven (7) days per week including certain holidays. The facilities are closed on the following holidays:
 
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Day
 
Event Coordinator is scheduled to work based on scheduled events and office hours as needed to cover event inquiries, bookings, and actual events. Employee is expected to work a minimum of two weekends per month or as needed.
 
DEPENDABLE
  • Arrives at the facility at the scheduled time.
  • Attends facility meetings as required.
  • Submits monthly work schedule by the 10th of each month.
 
FLEXIBLE
  • Event personnel should be "on call" to work in the event that a co-supervisor is unavailable to work. Any changes must adhere to the 29 hour weekly maximum.
  • Makes himself/herself available on the monthly work schedules at least two weekends during the month.
  • Is "on-call" to work in the event that the co-supervisor is unavailable to work.
  • Works additional hours if the renter requests more time.

Minimum Qualifications

College degree in appropriate field together with progressively responsible management supervisory, and administrative experience which is equal to the management and supervision of a major program or facility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the applicant's ability to direct and be responsible for a major program and/or facility under a minimum amount of supervision.
