THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT:
Pierce County Parks and Recreation manages over 5,000 acres of open space, trails, developed and undeveloped parks.  We provide recreational programs and infrastructure in active and passive parks and along trails. The department consists of four divisions:  Recreation, Maintenance, Administration and Resource Stewardship. Our mission is to regionally deliver quality recreation opportunities and inviting parks, trails, and open space facilities to the residents of Pierce County.
 

Position Summary

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Pierce County Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for an extra hire job opening.
 
Applicants will perform room and building monitor duties at the Environmental Services Building and Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place.  Duties include room set up and take down, light janitorial work, and overseeing facility safety and rental groups.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Willing to work evening and weekend hours

Sick Leave
Extra hires are eligible to receive sick leave in accordance with the WA State Minimum Wage Act.  Extra hires are not eligible for other County benefits.

Social Security
All Pierce County employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The county and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
Pro-tem Judges in District Court, Pro-tem Superior Court Commissioners, Extra Hires with Retirement, and Work Study Students with Retirement are eligible for Retirement and Deferred Compensation and Social Security.
