Part-Time Opportunities
 

The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center is a multipurpose facility owned and operated by The Maryland- National Capital Park & Planning Commission.

Part time opportunities are located at The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Md. Work hours are flexible and include evenings, nights and weekends. 
 
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.  

Salary range of $11.55 - $16.80/hour depending on position and experience.

FACILITY OPERATIONS STAFF
Program Facility Manager Aide II ($11.70 - $16.00) 
    
Event Preparation/General Maintenance/Grounds Maintenance - Set up and tear down events.  Cleans and stocks bathrooms and maintains supplies during events.  Empties trash and ash cans and office recyclable materials.  General cleaning of the facility.  Keeps ramps and sidewalks free of snow and debris.   Cleans around building and parking lots.  May be required to clean horse stalls and perform general maintenance of buildings.  May be required to perform grounds maintenance including mowing, weeding, etc.  Ability to lift 50 lbs.  Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service.  Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends. 
 
GROUNDS OPERATIONS
(1) Staff/Grounds Person
Program Facility Manager Aide II ($11.70 - $16.00)

Operates tractor and drags rings to client specifications.Cleans horse stalls, removes trash on grounds and parking lots, and cleans bathrooms and horse show office.  Assists with snow removal and general maintenance of buildings and grounds.Grounds maintenance includes mowing, weeding, etc. May be asked to assist with Arena event set up and tear down. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Will require working weekends and evenings. 
 
(2) Event Staff/Grounds Person
Program Facility Manager Aide III ($11.75 - $16.80)

Must have a Class B CDL and the ability to obtain a Tanker Endorsement in order to operate the tank truck.  Performs all duties of the Grounds Operations Program Facility Manager Aide II job description.  Must have the ability to effectively interact with the client and the public and provide courteous service.  Will require working weekends and evenings. 
 
(3) Parking Attendant - Parking Services/Traffic Control/Grounds Maintenance
Program Facility Manager Aide II ($11.70 - $16.00)

Directs and gives parking instructions to public.  Gives public general information pertaining to an event.  Secures parking areas including locking gates.  Sets up barricades as needed.  Maintains parking areas for public safety.  Additional duties may be assigned as needed.  Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends. 
 
GUEST SERVICES
(1) Usher/Ticket Taker-Guest Relations/Guest Services/Safety & Security
Program Facility Aide II ($11.55-$13.80)  
                        
Provides information and assistance to arena guests.  Checks tickets and shows guests to proper seats, including accessible needs patrons.  Secures specific exit doors and assigned areas.  Helps to enforce building safety procedures.  Scans tickets for admittance.  Assists in managing ingress/egress of front entrances and other controlled entry locations.  Assists with relocations, complaints and compliments of guests.  Assists with Will Call distribution.  Monitors lobby area during events.  May assist with answering phones during events. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some daytime hours. 

(2) Ticket Seller - Ticket Selling/Ticket Taking/Guest Services
Program Facility Manager Aide II ($11.70 - $16.00)        
                               
Must have previous Ticketmaster or ticketing experience.  Sells computerized tickets.  Reconciles all transactions from sales after each event.  Assists with relocations and guest complaints.  Pulls and sorts Will Calls, guests lists and passes.  Assists with Will Call distribution.  Scans tickets for admittance.  Provides information to guests.  May assist with answering phones during events.  Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some daytime hours.    
 
FOOD SERVICE
(1) Food Service Worker/ Production & Service/Security/Sanitation & Safety
Program Facility Manager Aide II ($11.70 - $16.00)        
            
Prepares concessions stands for events.  Operates, monitors and cleans all food service related equipment, including cash registers.  Maintains stock areas. Follows all safety and security procedures involving individually entrusted cash and inventories.  Properly completes forms pertaining to the reporting of sales and cash tendered.  Must be able to work evenings and/or nights, including weekends. 
 
(2) Grill Cook
 Program Facility Manager Aide III ($11.75 - $16.80)
                                 
 Prior experience and training in food preparation to include grilling and frying.  Must be able to cook a variety of foods. Maintain work area by cleaning and sanitizing; clean grilling equipment after daily use; ensure preventative and general maintenance of equipment.  Assist with inventory management.  Take orders and handle sales using Micros.  Must be able to stand for long periods and remain focused in a busy and hectic environment. Ability to lift 50 lbs.   Should possess a Health Department License and have a valid Serv Safe certificate.  Will routinely work weekends that may require long shifts.
 

Supplemental Information

This position does not provide benefits. All persons selected for hire must complete a criminal background investigation.

Retirement Programs

Plan Employee Contribution
Plan A: 7% of base salary. Social Security Wage Base (SSWB) and 8% in excess of SSWB.
Plan B: 4% of base salary up to maximum Social Security Wage Base (SSWB) and7% in excess of SSWB.
Plan C: 9% of base salary. (FOP members only)
Plan D: 8% of base salary.  (FOP members only)

  • Two (2) times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000 for each
 
Supplemental and Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)
  • Supplemental – 1,2,3,4,or 5 times base salary; maximum benefit is $750,000
  • Spouse/Dependent Combination -  $10,000/$5,000, $20,000/$10,000, or $30,000/$15,000
 
Sick Leave Bank (Eligible After One Year Probationary Period)
  • Employee contributes leave hours each year
  • Eligible for up to 66 work-days or 396 hours in 12-month period
