The Department of Corrections Health Services Division is seeking a highly motivated and attentive individual to take on the progressive, crucial, and fascinating role of Physician for Coyote Ridge Corrections Center located in Connell, WA. Merely 45 minutes from a burgeoning metropolitan area known as the Tri-Cities. Tri-Cities boast everything from outdoor recreation to over 200 wineries, and more than 300 days of sunshine a year.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Take a leading role in delivery of healthcare services to our patients as well as responsibility for the supervision of advanced practice providers, and nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with consulting physicians regarding care of patients.
  • Appropriately assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of medical conditions including emergency, and chronic situations.
  • Work as a team with others to ensure staff and resources are in place to provide patients with appropriate and timely medical services consistent with established standards.
  • Create a work environment that values high ethical standards, emphasizes safe, high quality medical care, nurtures teamwork and encourages activities which lead to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A license to practice medicine in the State of Washington (or the ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • A current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) registration. 
  • Completed and approved residency program.
  • Board-certified or board eligible in primary care specialty (family practice, internal medicine) required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in directing medical operations.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to provide education in a manner that enhances one to learn about their disease or chronic condition.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals ranging from correctional administrator and staff, health care professionals to patient advocates and other laypersons.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
