For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed.  A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Four (4) years of experience in monitoring and/or troubleshooting computerized/electronic control systems.
EQUIVALENCY(IES):
  • Associate's degree or higher in an electronics, computer information technology, electrical engineering, or engineering technology field plus two (2) years of the stated experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • A current class D or higher water license from the (TCEQ) Texas Commission of Environmental Quality plus three (3) years of the stated experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Must obtain a City of Dallas Flood Control Pump Station Operator Certificate within probationary period.
  • Must obtain a City of Dallas Flood Control Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Automated Local Evaluation in Real Time (ALERT) certificates within probationary period.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY(IES):
  • Basic PC skills.
  • MS Office skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.                                                          
PREFERENCES:
  • Experience handling SCADA, ALERT, and/or Flooded Roadway Warning System (FRWS) alarms, outages, and abnormalities is preferred.
